HECATE’S Torch! Some say that this folk tradition was used to keep witches away… some say that it was actually the green witch’s way! HECATE is the Greek goddess associated with witchcraft, magic, the Moon, doorways, and creatures of the night like hell-hounds and ghosts. Often depicted carrying a torch to remind of her connection with the night, in sculpture she has three faces for her role as the goddess of boundaries and the guardian of crossroads. For this craft, we call on Mullein: a beautiful medicinal herbal ally for healing in many ways but is often highlighted in supporting our respiratory system. In this hands on crafting experience, students will explore about mullein's mystical properties and how it may be used in your magical practice. Participants will learn about the Hag's Torch and craft small mullein candles with dried flower stalks, beeswax and rolling in a selection of aromatic herbs for some extra plant enchantment. We will go over a handful of herbs and their magical properties to further create customized magic mullein candles. Each witch will go home with a few candles to add to their green witch toolkit and the knowledge to craft more. All supplies provided. If you have small (up to 6-8”) dried mullein flower stalks and/or *special to you* aromatic herbs that you'd like to infuse in your candle, please bring along.
