with Zach Fisher
Before steel, there was stone. Stone tools were created from the environment for all types of jobs, from cleaning fish and hunting game to chopping down trees to harvesting medicine. In this class we will be making a harvesting knife from a slate, a stone that is plentiful in our area and very easy to shape using some basic techniques. Additionally, using stone tools can give us insights into the lives and ingenuity of our ancestors as well as help us foster a deeper connection to our environments and our craft.
